Scarlett Johansson is an American actress and performer who was born in New York City in the United States on the 22nd of November, 1984. Her performance has won her acclaim across a wide spectrum of genres such as historical drama, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson grew up within New York City as the mother of an architect as well as the owner of a production company. Hunter, the sister of Johansson was also born in New York City. When she reached seven years old, her love of acting had increased. She started to audition for commercials. She was enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after, and later attended the Professional Children's School, Manhattan for further training. Johansson made her debut an actress on film in North (1994) when she was nine. When she was eight years old, she appeared with Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson then appeared in Just Cause, but she first made an appearance in Manny & Lo, a film about siblings left behind by their parents who escape. The Horse Whisperer (2000) the film in which she played the role of a teenage girl who has a deformity due to an accident garnered the film critical acclaim. In Ghost World 2001 (as the cynical teenage outcast Rebecca) Johansson received even more recognition.
